Senior CNN editor Octavia Nasr was a steadfast journalist for over twenty years on Middle Eastern affairs she was fired yesterday due to a twitter comment in which she praised the Shiite cleric Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah who died over the weekend. Not hours after posting the tweet “Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah… One of Hezbollah’s giants I respect a lot.” Israelis who were monitoring the CNN tweets called CNN and expressed anger and contempt over the tweet from such a senior editor which led to her firing.
I guess when Israel Screams CNN Jumps. I’m not going to defend the cleric or his involvement of Hezbollah for each his own and both Israel and the Arab states have plenty of blood on their hands, but If a journalist praises someone who is dearly loved by its people for bad or worse that is journalistic freedom. What are we going to do hire only Christians and Jews and fire all Atheists and Muslims? I don’t like that Israeli’s can simply pick up a phone and call a news agency and have the sway to have a journalist fired because they praised an adversary of Israel. Israel vs. Palestine…Jews against Muslims, Arabs against Arabs, it’s like a broken record a place frozen in time and turmoil in continuous aggression of whom has the best religion and path to God. Oil and religion, ohh what a web we weave.
