 8 U.S. Deaths in Afghanistan Make Grim Milestone…

8 U.S. soldiers were killed in a Taliban ambush in Zabul Province near the Pakistan border. The  soldiers in stryker combat vehicles were hit by a roadside bomb and then ambushed by gunfire. Also Afghan security forces were attacked near the city of Zabul in the same province.

The Taliban and foreign Islamic fighters have stepped up attacks in the recent months as many Taliban were run out of Helmand province in August  and U.S. forces stepped up eradicating poppy production for the heroin trade which funds most of the Taliban military activity.

Kunar province 10-20 (Small)
