The Great Recession is taking no prisoners as six unemployed workers apply for every one job in America right now. That is the average nationally but in some of the hardest states that ratio is higher per unemployed worker for each job. Thankfully, the U.S. House passed a bill to extend benefits for 13 weeks for about 1.3 million Americans who are currently receiving the benefits and looking for stable work. Those 1.3 million are about to exhaust current extended benefits by the end of the year. Now the U.S. Senate is set to take up the Bill and its expected to pass but no announcement from the Senate has been made when they’ll take it up.
